JOURNAL NO. 6.
PDRN Is Getting an Upgrade
PDRN + GHK-Cu: What's Next in Regenerative Skin Care
Microneedling, copper peptides, and a new focus on full-body skin health in Sugar Hill & Buford
Thoughtfully chosen. Beautifully balanced.

If you've been following the Journal, you know we've been talking quite a bit about cell signaling and the remarkable way our skin communicates during inflammation, healing and repair.
This week, I want to take that science out of the textbook and into the treatment room.
I'm bringing a new PDRN + GHK-Cu treatment enhancement to Skin Clinic DH, and it represents something I'm becoming increasingly interested in as an esthetician: not simply creating more stimulation, but being much more thoughtful about what we give the skin after we stimulate it.
Why I'm using PDRN with microneedling
PDRN has quickly become one of my favorite additions to regenerative skin treatments.
PDRN, or polydeoxyribonucleotide, consists of purified DNA fragments and has been studied for its role in tissue repair, inflammation and creating an environment supportive of healing.
That's particularly interesting when we're talking about professional microneedling treatments.
Microneedling creates a controlled stimulus that initiates the skin's natural wound-healing response. But creating the stimulus is only the beginning.
What happens afterward matters.
How well does the skin manage inflammation? How efficiently does it move through repair? What environment are we creating while collagen remodeling is taking place?
This is why I don't think of PDRN as simply another trendy treatment add-on. It fits into a much bigger shift happening in professional skin care: supporting the biology of the skin after we stimulate it.
Now we're adding GHK-Cu
The new PDRN I'm bringing on goes one step further by combining PDRN with GHK-Cu, a copper peptide that has actually been used in skin care for well over a decade.
GHK-Cu isn't new. What's new is the attention peptides are getting.
Peptides have become a much bigger part of the conversation in skin care, hair care, regenerative aesthetics, and even discussions around injectable peptide therapies. I'm sure almost everyone has heard the word peptide by now.
GHK-Cu is one of the copper peptides you may have heard associated with skin and hair health. It has been studied for its relationship with wound repair, collagen and extracellular-matrix remodeling, antioxidant activity and cellular signaling.
And that last part is especially interesting to me.
As we discussed in last week's Journal, peptides can act as biological messengers.
We're no longer only asking, What can I put on the skin to moisturize or exfoliate it?
We're beginning to ask much more interesting questions about ingredients that may support how skin communicates, functions and repairs itself.
That's exactly why this combination of PDRN + GHK-Cu caught my attention.
A different way of thinking about professional skin care
For years, aesthetics has focused heavily on what we can remove, exfoliate, heat, peel or injure to force the skin to change.
Those tools absolutely have their place.
But I believe the next evolution of professional skin care is becoming much more thoughtful about what happens after the treatment.
How much stimulation does this particular person's skin actually need?
How do we protect the barrier while remodeling is occurring?
How do we support recovery?
And most importantly, how do we get results without unnecessarily overwhelming the skin?
As an esthetician who works with a great deal of sensitive and complicated skin in Sugar Hill and the Buford area, this is particularly important to me.
Two people can receive the same treatment and have very different responses. Skin type, inflammation, pigmentation tendencies, barrier health, lifestyle and treatment history all matter.
More isn't always better. Better biology is better.
Professional skin care shouldn't stop at your jawline
This brings me to another direction you'll begin seeing at Skin Clinic DH:
full-body skin health.
We spend an incredible amount of time treating the few square inches of skin on our faces while essentially ignoring everything below the neck.
But your body has skin concerns too.
Scars. Stretch marks. Crepey texture. Uneven tone. Sun damage. Dry or compromised skin.
And one I hear about constantly: keratosis pilaris, or KP.
Those tiny rough bumps commonly found on the backs of the upper arms and upper thighs aren't simply something you have to scrub harder.
KP involves the way keratin accumulates around the hair follicle, which means treating it thoughtfully may involve exfoliation, hydration, barrier support, and consistency rather than aggressively scrubbing the skin.
Over the coming months, you'll begin seeing more professional body treatments and body skin-care products at Skin Clinic DH for concerns like these.
The philosophy will be the same one I use when treating the face:
Evaluate the skin first. Respect the barrier.
Choose the right treatment for that individual.
Then work consistently toward healthier skin.
Not simply body lotion.
Professional skin care for the rest of your skin.
Something new is coming September 1
Beginning September 1, clients who purchase a microneedling series at Skin Clinic DH will receive one complimentary PDRN + GHK-Cu treatment enhancement with their series.
It's my way of introducing this new formula while continuing to explore where regenerative skin care is heading.
And we're just getting started.
From PDRN and copper peptides to microneedling, sensitive skin and full-body treatments, there is an enormous amount happening in skin science right now.
I'll continue doing what I've always done: reading the research, watching how the science evolves, and thoughtfully choosing what deserves a place in my treatment room.
